Statement from New Zealand Opera:
New Zealand Opera is delighted to confirm that The Marriage of Figaro season has been rescheduled to June 2021. Women lead the charge against power, privilege and patriarchy in Mozart and Da Ponte’s chaotic and hopeful masterpiece. In this new production, director Lindy Hume and her creative team cleverly explore the potent politics of class and gender in this landmark opera and what it means in a modern context, featuring a stellar cast of world-class singers. This performance will make you think more deeply about humanity, love, and optimism.
