Open letter to fans:
We cannot express how saddened we are that we cannot play our final game in front of our amazing fans one last time for 2020. The support you have all shown us has been humbling over this season.
We have worked hard to deliver on our objectives and to show you, our fans, how much you mean to us. We hear your chants; we feel your passion and we cannot do this without you.
COVID has again put a spanner in the works and we hope you and your families are safe. We are here for you as you are for us. Please reach out if you need extra support.
This is not the result we all wanted; however, we feel this is just the beginning of our new journey. This is just the start. We will part ways for a few months but come back just as fired up to be the best team in the competition. We have a responsibility to ourselves, to our fans and to those who have worn this jersey before us to leave it in a better place, and we will work hard for all to achieve this.
We understand it is a tough time for many of us and appreciate that financially this next bout of COVID may make it harder. The support of our fans, turning up to games and buying tickets has kept this franchise alive to date. You have kept us in the game.
We will find not hosting you at Eden Park a big hit and we would like to present an option to you to help us stay in the game for longer.
With the sudden movement into lockdown we have yet to define the details however, we would like to present the "Sapphire Ticket".
If you would like to join us on our journey, this Sapphire Ticket will transfer your tickets from SRA Blues v Crusaders fixture meant for this Sunday to a very special preseason match. It will be a launch of the new season and we will invite the Crusaders to play us again, but this time, with our fans standing tall next to us.
For every ticket transferred over to a Sapphire Ticket, 25% will be donated to either charities, junior clubs and/or community groups in our region. In order to transfer over to a Sapphire Ticket, you don’t need to do anything. Just hold on to your ticket.
This event will be a festival of rugby and of summer, family friendly with kid zones, live entertainment, a food market and of course, a celebration of our community. More details on this will be presented in the coming months as we build our re-match with the Crusaders.
However, if you are not able to transfer your ticket and wish to gain a refund please do so by following the instructions from Ticketmaster below. To have your refund processed quickly, please submit your request by the 30th of August 2020.
After this date, we will transfer remaining tickets over to a Sapphire Ticket to join us on this exciting journey.
